Editorial Process

The Revista Hispanoamericana de Ciencias de la Salud (RHCS) applies a rigorous, transparent, and peer-review-based editorial process aimed at ensuring scientific quality, ethical integrity, and academic relevance of the manuscripts it publishes.

1. Manuscript submission

Manuscripts must be submitted exclusively through the journal’s OJS platform. At the time of submission, authors must declare that the work is original and unpublished, and that it is not under simultaneous consideration by another journal.

2. Initial editorial assessment

The editorial team conducts a preliminary evaluation to verify:

  • The manuscript’s alignment with the journal’s scope and aims

  • Compliance with the author guidelines

  • Scientific structure, clarity, and coherence

  • Adherence to ethical principles and good editorial practices

Manuscripts that do not meet these criteria may be editorially rejected or returned to the authors for revision prior to peer review.

3. Peer review

Manuscripts that pass the initial assessment undergo external peer review under a double-blind model, in which neither the authors nor the reviewers know each other’s identities.
Reviewers assess methodological quality, originality, scientific relevance, and the robustness of the results, and provide reasoned recommendations.

4. Editorial decision

Based on the reviewers’ reports, the editor may issue one of the following decisions:

  • Acceptance without changes

  • Acceptance with minor revisions

  • Major revision

  • Rejection

Reviewers’ comments are communicated to the authors, who must submit a revised version of the manuscript together with a response letter detailing the changes made.

5. Editing and proofreading

Once accepted, the manuscript proceeds to:

  • Style editing

  • Linguistic and typographical revision

  • Formatting and reference standardization

During this stage, the editorial team may contact the authors for specific clarifications.

6. Publication

Accepted articles are published in open access in the corresponding issue of the journal, with DOI assignment and immediate availability for reading, downloading, and dissemination, in accordance with the journal’s publication license.
